Local workshops in Tanzania

Between 2nd and 6th of August 2016 local workshops were conducted in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, as part of the project Active for future. AMSHA (Amsha institute of rural entrepreneurship) performed 7 local workshops, which were led by youth workers, with the intention to develop skills, knowledge and abilities of the youth, so that they can increase their chances for employment through so called youth initiative.
Youth workers that implemented local workshops attended training on this topic in May 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya, where they gained new skills and knowledge for support in developing youth initiatives. As part of local workshops this knowledge was upgraded and adjusted according to the local needs of the youth.
In the first workshop participants introduced themselves, they got to know each other, presented their expectations and doubts, youth workers introduced purpose and objective of workshops and curriculum. With brainstorming they studied situation of unemployment in Tanzania and needs of the young in local environment. In following workshops participants learned what youth initiative is, the role of the young with overcoming unemployment, learning about social skills, communication, presentation skills, measures for fighting against unemployment, … In the end of each workshop they evaluated learning effects, observations, results and defined next steps.
Through workshops participants developed their own youth initiative, analyzed it, presented and prepared a plan for implementation. Presented youth initiative will be performed in the following months by the help of local organization AMSHA.
